Fit Tip Thursday: Get Your Arms Toned Up

Sculpting great-looking arms is actually much easier than most people think. It entails working three primary muscle groups: The shoulders, biceps (front of the arms) and triceps (back of the arms). Performing exercises for each area a few times per week will help tone and define the entire arm.

These exercises don't need to be complex at all, either. Simple pressing, flexing and extending movements done with appropriate resistance is all it takes to get arms you will be proud of. They are very easy to do from the comfort of your own home using dumbbells. Any dumbbells will work, but if you want to have a set of dumbbells that take up very little space in your home and can continue to give you a challenge as you grow in strength, the Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells are the way to go.

Watch this short video for a few more tips on toning the arms:

The four exercises shown in this video to get you on the way to toned arms are:

  1. Front Raises (To tone the front of your shoulders)
  2. Side Raises (To tone the side of your shoulders)
  3. Biceps Curls (To tone the front of your arms)
  4. Triceps Kickbacks (To tone the back of your arms)

Do 1-3 sets of each of these exercises for 10-15 reps, and do this a few times a week. When choosing a weight for the dumbbells, choose a weight that is challenging, but still allows you to keep proper form throughout the entire set. This will help maximize the results of the exercises and help prevent injury.
