How weightlifting Changed My Life

Over the years, my health and fitness journey has taken many twists and turns, but I’m proud to say that I’ve kept off over 80 pounds. that I’ve lost through healthy diet and regular exercise. I’ve done many forms of fitness and movement, but when I found myself stagnant with my progress and bored with my workouts, I knew it was time for a change, and I wanted to try something out of the norm for me.

So, a little over a year ago I started weightlifting. My gym featured a class that taught beginners how to weightlift, and I was immediately hooked. I started out lifting one day a week, which quickly turned into two, and eventually that snowballed into four days per a week. They say when you know, you know, and I knew I was in love with weightlifting!

And then, shortly after finding this newfound fitness passion, my gym closed. I didn’t let that stop me though; instead, I invested in my own home gym. With only 100 square feet of space in my garage, I needed equipment that would make the most of my small space. I knew that the Bowflex SelectTech 1090 dumbbells would be the perfect space saver and, combining it with the Bowflex Stowable Bench (which stores vertically), I’d have the perfect additions for my home gym.

I’ve been using my Bowflex equipment for a few months now and settling into my new home gym. It didn’t take long to develop a list of my favorite dumbbell exercises.

  1. Bulgarian Split Squats
  2. Lateral Raises
  3. Dumbbell Bench Press
  4. Upright Rows
  5. Goblet Squats
  6. Step Ups
  7. One Arm Row

Since I started weightlifting last year and combining it with a healthy diet, I’ve lost more than 20 pounds. Weightlifting not only changed my body, but has helped me to discover a new confidence. Plus, I am never bored by the challenges that weightlifting gives me day in and day out!
