When February rolls around, Valentine’s Day is all around. We get bombarded with oversized stuffed animals, heart-shaped chocolates, ideas for the perfect gift and sappy love cards. At times, we can get caught up in the “single” versus “taken” comparisons that this holiday tends to spark, and it can be emotionally draining.

However, February 13th marks Galentine’s Day and the chance to celebrate with your best girlfriends – whether single or taken. Spread the platonic love this Galentine’s Day by partaking in a few fun (and healthy) activities with your girl gang:

  1. Healthy Potluck

Pull out your best vegan/gluten-free/vegetarian cookbooks and get cooking. Have everyone whip out their yummiest and healthiest dishes for a group potluck. Then create a little healthy competition by throwing in a prize for the best dish!

  2. Take a Private Fitness Class

Whether it be a private yoga lesson at your home or a studio spin class takeover, reserve a private fitness class for your group of friends. This will make for a more bonding experience and allow everyone to be fully comfortable in the space.

  3. Living Room Dance Party

Is there anything better than dancing with your BFFs? The answer is no. Takeover your living room with the best throwback hits and bust a move. Maybe even start a dance battle.

  4. Treat Yourselves

You know the drill! Spend a long, relaxing day at the spa getting massages, facials and using the sauna with your gal pals. Not only will your body feel rejuvenated afterward, but your mind will be renewed.

  5. Get Nostalgic

Remember the fun you had as a kid when you went bowling, rollerblading and ice skating? Why not relive those memories with good company? Sometimes doing the simplest things are what make us happy.

  6. Digital Detox

Leave the phones at home and get out into nature – go on a hike, take a stroll on the beach or go snowshoeing in the mountains. One added benefit of a digital detox is that you won’t be bombarded by the overdramatized Valentine’s Day posts on social media.
