earth day - green cleaner recipe

How green is your clean? Could you be sacrificing your health for a sparkling clean tub or window? If you scrub, rub and wash with traditional cleaners, you may be filling your home with toxic substances, pollutants and abrasive chemicals. Which, at least to me, negates the positive effect of spring cleaning.

So in celebration of Earth Day, check out my recipe below for a home-grown, fresh-smelling, au naturel, green cleaner that will kill germs and disinfect all of your counter tops, tubs and toilets! As well as your yoga mats. Finally, you don't have to evacuate your home to keep it clean.

A Greener Cleaner:

You will need a spray bottle from a hardware or home goods store. (preferably 32 oz.)

  • Filtered or pure spring water
  • Witch hazel
  • Tea tree essential oil
  • Sage essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil

Fill spray bottle with 16 oz. water. Fill the remainder with witch hazel, 20-25 drops of tea tree oil, 8-10 drops of sage and as much lavender as you like for fragrance.
