What’s the Best Way to Warm up Your Muscles?

Is jogging on a treadmill a good warm-up activity? Yes and no. That’s a trick question because it is a good warm up if we want to run … but it’s a poor warm up if you’re going to lift weights or even play sports.

So what constitutes a good warm up? It’s simple really … a slow, lighter version of the exercise you intend to do!

In this video, I discuss why moving slowly is the key. I also briefly discuss how it prepares your muscles for activity and makes you stronger.

What about stretching? Isn’t that a good thing to do to warm up? No, actually it’s not. I discuss that too.
