Fight against obesity in America

The Sport & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) is throwing down the gauntlet this week in its fight against obesity in America. With the help of major fitness & healthy industry companies (including our parent company Nautilus Inc.), the group has amassed an impressive number of people who know just what it’ll take for America to ditch its spare tire and “Get America Moving.”

As part of National Health Through Fitness Day (NHTF) on March 4-5, 2014, athletes like NFL legend Herschel Walker, gold medal Olympian Jennie Finch and more than 100 sporting industry professionals will combine their collective muscle in an attempt to get Congress to pass the Carol M. White Physical Education Act (PEP) and the Personal Health Investment Today Bill (PHIT Act).

In an effort to combat rising health care costs associated with obesity and sedentary lifestyles, the PHIT Act wants to make it cheaper for everyone to stay in shape by proposing financial incentives to those who invest in physical activity.

This is the 14th year the SFIA has spearheaded the National Health Through Fitness Day as a part of its ongoing efforts to eliminate obesity in America.
