February is American Heart Month, meaning it’s time to show your heart some love!
Heart health is particularly important since cardiovascular disease (including heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure) is the No. 1 killer of men and women in the United States.
Some foods are better for optimal heart health than others. Protein can get a bad rap with animal-based foods, like red meat and dairy, running high in saturated fat — a risk associated with cardiovascular disease. Protein is an important part of a balanced, healthy diet though, so the key is to find protein-rich foods that are low in saturated fat, like our Bowflex Body protein shakes, for example.
