Start a New Chapter of “You” This Fall

How to focus on yourself this fall

Despite the fact that I haven’t been back to school in a really long time (please don’t ask just how long!), I have a hard time not getting swept up into the back-to-school excitement. There’s something invigorating about knowing that after a long sweaty summer, students around the world are getting ready for the new chapter in their lives.

When you’re young, every single experience is an adventure to be discovered. As an adult, it can be hard to fully reclaim that excitement about learning new things.

Everyone seems to make New Year’s resolutions to change and be better, but maybe this is a great time of year to start anew as well? That way you can piggyback off of the back-to-school buzz and recharge your own life. Here are a few ideas to try:

  • If you love the idea of learning a new language, but don’t have the energy or time to take a class, why not have an at-home film festival of French movies or start to binge watch Spanish-language telenovelas? In that way, you can at least pick up the theme, if not each and every word.
  • Trying to be more creative? Before you splurge on new paint and brushes, consider some of the fabulously creative courses offered online. I’ve signed up for Creative Bug’s class in Art Journaling after seeing the gorgeous images a friend posted online.

Changes don’t have to be huge to be life changing. And what better time of year to discover a new facet of yourself?
