How to make fitness part of your life

There are tons of reasons why fitness should be a non-negotiable part of your life – and the quickly approaching swimsuit season isn’t one of them. Sure, we all want to look great when we’re out on the beach, but looking good in a swimsuit isn’t a strong enough reason to motivate you to go to the gym each day. So what is?

For starters, how about your kids?

When it comes right down to it, you’re a role model for your children. If you dedicate yourself to an active, healthy lifestyle, they will too. But if you allow yourself to give up on fitness at the drop of a dime, guess what, so will they. You can go on all day about the importance of staying in shape, but unless you put your money where your mouth is, they’re not going to hear a word you say.

If that isn’t relatable to you, what about your job?

Oh yeah, your fitness comes into play there too. You might think to yourself, “I can’t go to the gym, I have to work.” Or “I don’t have time to work out, I need to find a new job!” But is getting a new job going to make you succeed to the fullest? No. That is, not unless you already have your fitness in line.

In fact, you’re less likely to get hired in the first place if the boss sees you as a liability to the company’s health insurance. The statistics are insane! But they prove that the older, unfit generation is going to be forced out of the job market in order to bring in the younger, healthier crops. When it’s all said and done, they’d rather you retire or quit than show up as a liability on their books.

Maybe that sounds a little harsh, even discriminatory, but it is a reality. It’s my job to get the wheels in your head spinning, to open your eyes to the world of health and wellness, and to get those important conversations started – the conversations that will convince you of how imperative your health actually is.
