Turning Back Time With Fitness: Gerry's Weight Loss Story

"The hardest part about getting into shape is that you have to do it."

Meet Gerry: Father, avid golfer, and now, boxer… He knows what it takes to be in shape, but this realization didn't come easy. Over the past few years, Gerry found his pants size creeping up from "34 to 36 to 38," until one day, he realized something had to change.

"I was playing golf in Scotland and one of my buddies took of picture of me and sent it. When I looked at the picture, in that moment, I couldn't believe I had let myself get that way."

Gerry said he had been "fit and fat" his entire life, but this time it was different. "It was getting to the point where I couldn't button my shirt collar anymore or take groceries up the stairs without being out of breath."

Once Gerry realized he needed to make a change, his goals were two-fold: He wanted to drop his body fat percentage, but also maintain muscle mass. In the past he had only lifted, walked and ran, and though he would stay fit, it wasn't a concentrated plan.

This all changed when he got started on the BowFlex® TreadClimber®.

"In addition to eating the right foods, the fat loss on the TreadClimber, that low steady cardio, was a big part of the plan. It was also weight training and interval training," Gerry said. "The results were amazing. It wasn't the 45 pound weight loss that stood out to me but that I went from 25 to 15 percent body fat."

Even with being fit when he was younger, Gerry weighs less now than he did as a football player in high school—talk about a huge change! But it only gets better.

Not only is he able to wear clothes that haven't fit him for 15 years, but now Gerry isn't afraid to take his shirt off anymore or to take pictures with his family.

"It's just the whole mental attitude. Being fit comes with increased self-confidence and self-worth. When you're fit it's just so much better than when you're not fit," he said. "I lost about 15 pounds in the first month of training. After I started seeing the results, I asked myself what the hell I was thinking before."
