Burpees for Beginners

Burpees are like broccoli: You know they're good for you, but you still don't like them. Many people dislike burpees for the very reason they are such an effective exercise — They can be really difficult. They are a cardiovascular, plyometric, full-body strength move all rolled into one. An exercise that can send your heart rate skyrocketing in just a matter of seconds.

Like other advanced and challenging exercises you need to start gradually with burpees and modify them accordingly. If you’re new to burpees, here's how to get started:

As you can see in the video, you start off with your burpees by taking out some of the more complex parts. This is so you can get a feel for the motion and get your body used to going down, then up in one exercise. Once you are more comfortable with the motion, then you can start to gradually add in the push-ups and the jump.

Burpees may seem challenging at first, but just like almost everything else in life the more you do them the better you will get.
