One of the most overlooked aspects of working out is what we do, or don’t do, post-exercise. Your fitness plan does not end when the workout is over. The habits we engage in after our cardio and strength training sessions are extremely important and can serve to maximize our results, help prevent injury and ensure we stick with our programs for a lifetime.
Here are three of the “small things” to do after your workouts that will help you reap big rewards from all your efforts:
The clients with whom I have had the most success over the years all had one common trait: They all did the “small stuff,” and they did it consistently. Exercising and achieving true health is much more than just the workout itself. What we do before, during and after we exercise is extremely important to our ultimate goal attainment.
The “small stuff” refers to numerous things including properly fueling our workouts, performing our prehab exercises, focusing on hydration and electrolyte replacement, fixing our weak links and scheduling rest days, to name a few. All of these things may seem relatively insignificant but are essential to becoming our best selves, while minimizing our chance of injury.
