Fit Tip Thursday: 5 Best Butt Exercises

When it comes to exercise, we often make things much more complicated than they need to be. Squat. Lunge. Step. Jump. These are a few of the simple components found in the most effective lower-body exercises. In fact, you can get a complete butt workout with almost no equipment whatsoever. These movements can be performed anytime and anywhere, and you can do an infinite number of variations of them as well.

I realize that many people believe that they shouldn't perform squats or lunges due to joint issues. The problem is that we perform these movements all the time in our daily activities. We need to strengthen these essential muscle groups – progressively, gradually and performing the exercises with strict form – so that they protect and stabilize our joints, rather than injure them.

The weaker these muscles are, the greater the stress on our knees and hips, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. One of the incredible side-effects of our increased time spent sitting due to technology is extremely weak butt muscles. The more we sit on them, the softer and less functional they become. Weak butt muscles leads to a wide variety of compensatory injuries to the hips, knees and more.

So here they are… Five of the best butt exercises that strengthen and sculpt at the same time. Enjoy!
