3 Essential Keys to a Successful Workout Program

Even the best workout program in the world can be rendered worthless if you never show up to do it. That shouldn’t surprise you. Consistency is a key to making any workout program a successful one. So why are some folks still failing to stick with it?

What most people fail to do is plan. You’ve heard it before, “failing to plan is planning to fail”. Abraham Lincoln once said that if he had 6 hours to cut down an oak tree, he’d spend 4 hours sharpening his axe. This way, he’d have a finely tuned axe that would allow him to get the job done easier and more efficiently.

The same approach can be used to make sure your workout program gets you to your goals. For most people, reaching one’s goals is like chopping down a giant oak tree with a tiny little axe. It’s going to take a lot of time and a lot of effort. Here are 3 steps you can take to make sure you work on your goals more easily and efficiently:

Step 1: Schedule your workouts. Pull out your schedule right now and schedule all the workouts you plan to do over the next 6 weeks.

Remember, this is YOUR time! Treat this schedule seriously. Do you frequently miss meetings at work? How about doctor appointments? Well, your workouts need to be just as important as those.

Step 2: Write down your motivation. You must know why you want to reach your goals. What will reaching your goals do for you? How will it improve your life?

Trust me when I say this: If you don’t have a solid grasp on why you want to reach your goals, your goals will NEVER become a reality. Perhaps you’ve already experienced this harsh reality. Too many people have.

Step 3: Commit to yourself. Remember, this is ALL about YOU! You’re not committing to your friends or family. You’re committing to yourself. Your motivation won’t always be there, but your commitment will!
